Trick1: A

Trick2: K and North shows out.

We have to follow a different plan.

Trick3;4;5:A K Q and in East 3 discarded.

Trick6;7: A K

Trick8: ruff

Trick9: ruff

Trick10: ruffed with A

Trick11: and in East the last discarded, loser on loser.

In trick12 West has to lead into the Q 10 from East.

Result: 6 contract.

What happened at our table?

North said after 2(Stayman) 3 and East said Dbl.

By a mistake only minus 800. It wins from every player who doesn’t see the play that is recommended, or from every pair that doesn’t reach slam.

Now you can make the contract by 100%.

Discard a on the 1st trick.

If South takes A two can be discarded on KQ.

If South refuses A you try the -fines; when wrong, it’s the only trick you lose.

This was the comment.

Still West has a problem in pairs.

If Q is with North, you always have 6 contract. Also on a 3-3 break.

And if both are right, you score 6 +1.

Is this a chance to be ignored?

At our table the declarer went for it, and scored minus 1.

This bidding was recommended.

We play 1NT 15-17, and East has 18 points.

West 14 and a 5-card. Many players will reach the slam.

When you take trick1 with K and cash 3 , try the 10th trick by playing to a Q in a major. It doesn’t work on this board.

How did Truus and Louis make 6NT, you wonder.

No, we played 7 -3, what proves that we played a complete different tournament.

But it was nice to read what we should have played.

Louis, the slamreporter.
