Problem is which card to play in South?

And if you try 2, West has a problem.

These boards have a special element. If you recognize this element you can use it.

This element is: play twice from South. If 3-3 and West puts V you duck.

You make: 3 -tricks, 1-, 1-, 4 -trick

The problems. A is the best card in South on this board..

And if 2 is played, 9 for West is the best, because when North holds K the Q is not good.

And if North has noK, he will finess this the 2nd time.

So Q loses always.

On the first trick I tried J (East can have KQ).

Trick1: Q

Trick2: 9, ducked by East, also by South

Trick3: 3 and now the advantage of the theme, A

Trick4:A

Trick 5:Q

Trick6:K

Trick7:K

Trick8: with to West and he is placed.

for Q, after that a from North is discarded on A

The last tricks are for 9,A and the last

Result 3NT +1

Problem for East is the 1st bid.

Dbl is not good, partner will bid .

Pass is possible, the most safe choice. I decided 2NT

Trick1: A

Trick2: 5-Q-K-2

Trick3: 10-4-6-A

Trick4: for K

We count now 3 -tricks, 3-trick. If we make 3 -tricks 3NT is contract.

Trick5: via Q for A

Trick6: A

Trick7: 4? Via 10 for J (East 2 discarded)

After this first J, Q and 9 were played.

On J South showed out, the last tricks were 2 -tricks for East.

3NT +1 on only 22 punten, and without length.

Even if South plays a 3NT +1 is made, because North has to keepK, otherwise 9 is a trick.

So North had to discard on , some cars in .

The better defence(North) is to play low on the first , maybe South has 2, or to take the three tricks.

Greetings from Louis, the Dutch player.
