====== Simplified AUC ====== AUC = An Unassuming Club. Bridge bidding system designed by Donald A. Varvel full AUC sistem: http://www.hq.ro/vang/bridge/from_the_net/bidding_systems/Auc/ vang modifications: * normal openings are limited to 17 HCP (not 18 like in original) * variable notrump (12-14 white, 15-17 red) * some rare sequences left undefined (to avoid memory stress) ==== openings ==== * 1H/S = natural, min 5 cards, 12-17 HCP * 1D = natural, min 4 cards, 12-17 HCP. might include longer clubs (4diamonds + 5clubs) * 1NT = natural, balanced. 12-14 when non-vul, 15-17 when vul * 2C = 11-14 HCP, min 6 clubs. DENIES 4 card major, might have 4 card diamond * 1C = three way: * balanced 12-14 or 15-17 * natural, min 3 clubs, 12-17 * 18- HCP any distrib * 2NT = free to be used as weak opening (weak minor 2 suiter). ==== answers to 1C ==== * 1D = 0-5 HCP, any OR 6-9 HCP without 4 card major * 1H/S = 6+HCP, natural (F1) * 1NT = 10-12 HCP, balanced, no 4 card major (NF) * 2NT = 13+HCP, balanced, no 4 card major (GF) * 2C/D = 10+ HCP, 5 cards (like inverted minor raise) * 2H/S/3C/D = natural, (very) weak (0-5 HCP) ==== after 1c - 1d ==== * 3C = natural, 15-17, min 6 clubs (NF) * 1H/S = natural, 12-17. might be balanced outside 1NT zone or clubs+M. might be 3 cards (with balanced hands, since 1C-1D-1NT is 18-20) * 1NT = 18-20 balanced OR flexible (UNBALANCED) 18-21. (then, 2C=0-5, 2D=6-9) * 2C = art GF (25+ HCP if balanced). (then, 2D=0-5 hcp, 2H=6-9 hcp with 0-1 controls, 2H=6-9 hcp with 2-3 controls, 2NT=2 aces) * 2H/S = acol style, but NF. 1-suiter, 18-21. (then next higher step is negative, and a single raise is forcing) * 2D = balanced 21-22 OR minor 1 suiter 18-22 (opener will bid 3C or 3D next) or GF minor 2-suiter (opener will bid a major fragment next). then, 2H=0-5 hcp, 2S=6-9 hcp. * 2NT = balanced 23-24 ==== after 1c - 1M ==== //Warning! Different From 1C-1D!// * 3C = natural, 15-17, min 6 clubs (NF) * 2C = art GF (18+ HCP) * 1NT = natural, the other balanced range (12-14 or 15-17) * 2NT = since this is unused, it might show a 15-17 balanced hand with 4 card fit * 1C - 1S - 2D = SPECIAL. 5+ clubs, 4 hearts, and a hand too weak to reverse * 1C - 1S - 2H, 1C - 1H - 2D = normal reverse, but NF since is 15-17 * 1C - 1M - 2C* - 2M = 5+cards. anything else denies 5M ==== after 1c - 1N ==== * Opener may occasionally pass with 5422 or 4441 distribution and a minimum * Opener's 2C and 2NT is nonforcing, but with a maximum responder may bid again * All other bids are natural in principle and game-forcing. 2D, though, may be a made-up bid on a very strong hand ==== after 1c - 2c ==== * 2D is negative (max 14HCP). the bidding might be stopped in 2NT or 3C * all of opener's other rebids are game forcing ==== after 1c - 2d ==== * 2H is negative (similar with 1C - 2C). the bidding might be stopped in 2NT or 3C or 3D ==== after 1D opening ==== * Opener's 2C rebid is ambiguous. It may be 4-4, 4-5, 5-4, or 5-5. With less than 5 clubs, the strength may be up to 17 HCP * with 5 clubs, and 15-17, opener will rebid 3C. This is 4-5, 5-5, or better. * jump-rebids and reverses in AUC are not quite forcing (since they show 15-17) * 1D - 1M - 2NT = since this is unused, it might show a 15-17 balanced hand with 4 card fit
